NRLCA Long Term Disability and Life Insurance
Program Open Season is Closing

By now, you should have received your NRLCA Long Term Disability and Life
Insurance enrollment kit in the mail. Your time to elect these new benefits from United of
Omaha, a Mutual of Omaha Company, is coming to an end soon!

The highlights of the new programs are:

  • You can enroll for term life insurance coverage up to $100,000, without any medical questions or exams. In addition, if YOU elect coverage, you may also enroll your spouse for $50,000 and each child for $10,000 of term life insurance coverage.
  • The Long Term Disability Plan has two benefit levels. The new disability Plan includes a 10% premium reduction and shorter waiting periods for pre-existing conditions.

IMPORTANT REMINDER
The life insurance and long term disability insurance programs are being made available on a guaranteed issue basis (no health questions or exams) during the 2009 Open Enrollment Period only. Your spouse and each child are also eligible for life insurance on a guaranteed issue basis during the Open Enrollment. You will not have another chance to enroll in the life insurance program after the Open Enrollment Period without answering health questions or having a medical exam. Please assess your life insurance needs and take advantage of this one-time opportunity.

This life insurance program is in addition to (and does not replace) any other life insurance coverage that you might have through the Postal Service under the Federal Employees’ Group Life Insurance (FEGLI) Program.

The effective date of your coverage for life insurance and long term disability coverage will depend on the date that the Postal Service’s Shared Services Center processes your completed allotment (payroll deduction) form. United of Omaha will mail you a confirmation statement detailing your coverage effective date, the benefits you elected and the biweekly premium cost.
